Introduction
As you drive into Fakenham you will see from the town sign that Fakenham is twinned with the French town of Olivet, a delightful little town near Orleans in the Loire Valley, about 120km south of Paris.
The towns were twinned in 1982 with the objective of bringing people from both communities together and provide an opportunity to share problems and solutions, exchange opinions, learn from each other, and create friendships through common interests and issues.
Since it began the twinning has been actively supported by the Fakenham Olivet Twinning Club whose aim is to promote the twinning and give encouragement and practical help to individuals, clubs and associations wishing to form links between the two towns.
Over 40 years since its inception those aims are still valid, and the Club’s primary focus is to raise awareness and to generate more interest in the twinning and the Club's activities.
